RE: roller racing

mail I had from them not long ago

Our minimum charge is based on a four hour session for up to 50 racers would cost £765 ex vat.

For this price we would bring everything you need to run a roller race including.

* One pair of rollers with front wheel replacement frames
* 1000m Dial
* Condor roller-race specific bikes and spares
* A PA & mic
* Camera's
* Staff
* Laptop, backup stopwatches and paperwork
* Full results and photos service
* Insurance for Roller racing activities
* LED timing

Everyone is encouraged to try out the rollers over a 500m sprint, we take their photo whilst they are riding and record their time on our computer. We also write their time and speed on a card so they can see how fast their attempt was.

If you choose to run the session as a race we would call this first session qualifying. After the qualifying has ended we take the top riders through into a knock out session where people race against one another through the rounds until we are left with a winner. Shortly after the event we post the results on our website and or email you all the data.

All this is done to a back drop of music and an MC, sometimes provided by yourselves. We are very flexible and are open to any suggestions and ideas you have regarding the evenings racing.

I've sent them Sevale phone numbers (who we borrowed the rollers from last year)

I attended as a visitor, a cycle event on Barbourne Park last summer where i saw what I would describe as two static road bikes set up on what I am reliably informed to be turbo trainers. Each bike had a monitor and members of the public were "racing" each other for a better time over a set distance.

I am a serving Local Police Officer and part of a multi agency lead youth forum to set up a steering group for local young people. We have an event on King George V Playing fields on 27/3/10 and various sports/activities will be promoted including Wii fit challenge, grass boarding and hopefully cheerleading. We are looking for one other sport and I immediately thought of the cycle challenge.

Does anyone know what I am talking about!? And if so, who or where could I get the set up from and how much it would cost.
I can be contacted direct at rainbowhill.lpt@westmercia.pnn.police.uk or on 01905 757298.  Thanks for taking the time to read this as I thought only your readers would be able to help.
