Make sure you've done your hair and got your best kit on, I'll be out there with my camera! I would have ridden but my knee doesn't like getting out of the saddle and don't fancy walking up Ankerdine Keep fingers crossed that the sun stays out.

Considerations for the beacon 39 TT bike or racer? Disc wheel or not? what else

After going round the course on Sunday and doing the TT on Tuesday night i decided to enter on Wednesday. Not sure if will contribute much to the team effort but will give it a go. On sunday i was fine at the end going up ankerdine but not too sure where they time us from going up stanford bank. Should be an experience considering only been into cycling for 2 months.
So how fast are the St Johns riders going to go? Here's my guess at some times of those on the provisional entry list... No real research behind it, just a guess.. Anyone else fancy a prediction?
1) Steve Price, 1 hr 42 mins 2) Sean dyson 1 hr 50mins 3) Dave Walker 1hr 52mins 4) Me (Dave Preece) 1hr 56mins (If I have a really good day) 5) Richard Finch 2hr 15 mins 6) Chris Cox 2hr 17 mins
Hi... good luck for tuesday, I should be there as well. As for the little mountain, riding a long hilly tt is not easy, so my advice would be to start slowly and save a bit for the much harder second half..
Just to give you an idea, on Tuesday I would expect to average about 24mph. For the little mountain I will be hard pushed to average 20mph. See you soon, Dave Preece (black Dolan)
Yes, I am going to give it a go but Ruth at Beacon has told me to do at least 1 TT before I enter so that i have a better chance of getting in. So will be doing the club TT on Tuesday and then entering on Wednesday. I shouldnt hold out much hope of me adding to the team result though as i am doing it for experience and have no idea what pace I should be aiming at! Hope to see/ meet some of you on Tuesday and on the 26th.
At the moment Worcester St Johns has 5 riders and we could make a decent effort on the team prize. Steve Price, if he can avoid punctures this year, Sean Dyson should fly round and I might be a fraction quicker than I was last year. Any more up for it?
Excellent! Good luck on the most improved target, I will be pleased if I can get even 1 second off my time from last year! Do you fancy a couple of rides around the route before the big day? I think it's worth doing, especially the second half of the loop as knowing the twists and turns of the downhills will save a few seconds without having to get any fitter!
Myself and Chris Cox have again applied . I'm hoping for a crack at most improved, and with 2hrs 33 last year I have an outside chance if I can get down to 2:10 .
Anyone else going to enter this? I have just entered. Last year there were quite a few Worcester St Johns riders, it would be nice to have a big turn out again.... To those of you who don't know much about it, it is a fantastic course... just make sure you save a bit of energy to get up Ankerdine after about 33 miles... http://www.beaconrcc.org.uk/open_races/lmtt/2009_event.html
