R.I.P Gerry Hughes,
I can remember him from way back always helping out the WSJCC,
His contribution to the club will never be forgotten and always appreciated.

So sad to hear that Gerry has passed away.

First met Gerry way back in the early '70's, he was always there to offer a lift to us Juniors when we were Road Racing around the
Midlands, often came out and organised training bashes from the side of the road as well, around Broadheath way.

When I came back to cycling and eventually succeeded Gerry as Chairman during the mid-90's, I had little experience of what was involved or was required of a Chairman, but Gerry always made himself available and offered advice and assistance, which was always appreciated.

Many don't realise what a 'rock' Gerry was at times during WSJCC history, when numbers were down or finances tight, Gerry always managed to keep the club together, riding out the storm, often at his own cost.

St Johns has lost one its greatest ever supporters!!!

My thoughts are with Dot and the rest of the Hughes family.

Rob Finch.
