I watched some of you guys racing. Couldn't really spot the early runners because nobody was wearing club colours. Tried to take some photo's but failed miserably. How many of you would buy a club skinsuit if we subsidised them? Might as well use the club funds for something!
how about all those who have ordered skinsuits already as they have only got them to race in.
Thanks for your support on Sunday. Sorry about the lack of club kit on display but I was waiting until the latest change of supplier had resolved iteself. However, looking at the prices touted then subsidy might be the only way.

Hats off to all of you who signed up for this daunting event - I viewed proceedings at Ankerdine for a while and the thought of having that in the middle of a TT makes one shudder.
Simon was indeed a "walking wounded", having had a spill at the turn at the bottom, as did one or two others I believe, there was some suggestion there was diesel on the road. I did remark that he still did the climb quicker walking than I manage on the bike!!
Well it's all over, and the Worcester St Johns riders had a bit of a mixed day... As far as I know Simon Garrett was going really well but then crashed on the tight turn at the bottom of Ankerdine (hope you are ok Simon). Steve Price punctured, and still beat me! Mark Allen was ill and didn't start (hope you recover in time for the fixed gear tt on the old hills). The rest of us were just glad to get round ok and I was pleased with my time of 1hr 58mins 59seconds.
i'm in! Still with 9.48 start I should see Ron and Simon coming the other way from Martley.
Mind you if i hold off Rob would until i get through Martley and Mat Botrill until Holt fleet i think i'll have done a good ride! Mind you given that i'm only 12 min from the last man The broom wagon will be following me.
Target to finish before the Medals are handed out!
Cheers Rich, the only races I've ever won before have been on my penny farthing, so it came as a bit of a surprise to me as well! As for the little mountain, as I understand it the fastest rider on paper will be starting at no. 120, the next fastest at no. 110, then no. 100 and so on. Not sure how they split everyone else up though. I do know that the guy starting 1 place behind you, Michael Amery, is quick. So don't be too disapointed if he comes flying past. I'm off no. 57 so I may not see much of you on the day but no doubt I will see you on a tuesday night again soon. Oh, and good luck to all of the st Johns riders!!
Entry list posted on the site yesterday. I start 9th (08:09) so I have a good two hours on the broom wagon However, the downside is a very early Sunday morning start
See you there.
All the best
Richard
P.S. Well done for Tuesday, I didn't appretiate you had won. Congratulations.
Hi Rich! yeah we should meet up, if not at the little mountain some other time. Why don't you give the club tt's a go on tuesday nights? Or if Tuesday is no good maybe the Malvern club, vc sevale, tt's on Thursdays... Also wondering how / if your beetle is going? I've got another one now but thinking of selling it.. Anyway, see you soon, Dave..
I've decided to turn my cycle commuting into something a little more competitive and join the club. To compound my insanity I've entered the LMTT as my first time trial Had a few practice runs around elements of the course over the past month and went on the familiarisation run with Beacon CC on Saturday. We took about 2.5 hours at a leasurely pace so I hope to be around 2:15 on the day.
This is of course if I get in. Current entry list stands at 91 with a max of 120 allowed. Priority goes to those with a previous time, so I could get dropped if many more enter this week. Hope t find out Thursday.
If I'm in I'll post my start number and see if we can meet up before/after for a catch-up chat.
Hi Mark, yeah I've entered, don't think rob wood / Matt bottrill will be too concerned though! What sort of time do you think you will do? I'll be over the moon if I get inside 2hrs... and pretty happy with 2hrs 5mins. rode it today and tried starting quite slowly then put in more effort from 15miles.. Did 2hrs 9mins and felt ok most of the way round.. Ankerdine was nasty though with 42 / 23 as my lowest gear!
If i get a place (the entry is in the post) I will am considering the Road bike and maybe even a triple. (i needed it up clifton and whitley this week). I'll watch ride past.
I'll be riding my tt bike.. I think! Just got back in after riding round the course for the last time before the event. I think I'm slightly slower up the longer climbs on the tt bike but a bit faster everywhere else... It's painful whichever bike I'm on!
Doesn't get any easier when racing. I am planning on riding it as well. Just keep going. If ankerdine is hard the last hills and 3 miles form martley take forever. Still it's a great race.
Hi, Tried it today on tt bike but bottom gear is only 42 / 23 so Ankerdine was like riding up a wall! Tried a few weeks back on std road bike with 39 / 23 and managed better on hills but worse everywhere else... time on tt bike was about 5mins better, but I probably tried harder too. As for the penny, the time keepers would need a calendar to time me, not a stop watch!
It's a marvellous event, are you using a road race or time trial bike?It usually attracts some class riders. i think gethin Butler won it last year. Steve Price did it too and came 4th 2 years ago, quite a hille course,my bad back will seriously affect my racing this year so i won't be doing it.Are you going to use the penny.....................
Anyone else thinking of doing this? I've just riden round the route and am wondering why I have entered! Judging by todays time I don't think there's any danger of me doing much good...
