RE: up hill shenanigans 12 jan morning

This just goes to prove my long running theory that climbing hills is bad for you!! biggrin
Descents are the 'Garlic Bread' of cycling - the future!!!! idea

None of this power to weight rubbish, weight to speed is what you want.

  • icy roads !!
  • pottering along nicely,clean bike running well,tyres pumped up,nice n sunny and
  • venturing up a short sharp hill the back wheel slips a little so lean back a tad for more weight over wheel.
  • why is the back wheel now going around faster than the front ? ice !
  • gently unclip/cleat right foot trying not to un-balance the bike. Now time has slowed down to 'slow motion' no quantum leaps here!
  • front wheel is now going left and back end other way! foot down only to find cleat is as slippy as tyres on ice
  • a bit of yoga would have helped now as my cleated in left foot (with bike attached)goes 1 way and everything else goes the other.
  • so 2 choices : go with it or sort of collapse gracefully (which i chose)
  • no one looking? good! gently back down the hill and stick to main roads when its cold and there is ice !!!
