(So, while riding along in the rain, trying to keep the 30 mile group together I was thinking 'You can't get much more miserable than this' when Megan pipes up and says 'I'm really enjoying this' ! That cheered me up no end. So Sean, just one new member makes it all worthwhile)
38 riders braved what can only be described as horrible conditions to complete the reliability trial on the 10th feb , not bad considering we clashed with another local event.
Thank you to all Worcester St Johns Riders for your support 18 of you most of whom covered the 48 mile course through wind and continuous rain. Martin & Allison Staines made use of their tandem on the 30 mile ride which was really useful for new riders such as both of my brother in laws and a lady who is not only new to cycling but also new to the Worcester area. Quickest to complete the 48 mile course managed an amazing sub 2.30 hours and I am sure the same people will feature highly in the coming season.
This seems to be the only time of year when the club really pulls together with so much going on (reliability ride, cycling jumble) in one month, riding alongside one another and helping work together to make things happen. On this note a big thanks to all who supplied cake to the event Terry Shough, Martin, Dave Jennings, Nick, Eve, Jerry & Rob Nicholls my wife Lisa, Sarah Page who also helped with the refreshments, thanks for your time and support. Time keepers Sam & Dave without you I would be lost, hope that we can do this again next year and perhaps raise more than the £50.00 that we have to donate to a local charity. If anyone has a particular charity that they would like to suggest please let me know via this forum, otherwise I will donate to St Richards Hospice.
