Thanks lrm......thats a good sign I think! I'm sure i can carry 15-16mph in a group fairly well, especially if I tend to be around that when on my own.
This weekend will be a no-go for me too, but i'll try and get clearance from the wife/daughter combo and get out on one soon! :)

Thanks for your reply. Is there usually a few that cut rides short?? I'd hate to be the only one, although would rather drop back than hold up the regulars!
I have also looked into the Worcester CTC, although that seems a slower pace it may just be too slow for me......i'm not sure yet!
Try the 9.30 rides from Worcester Bridge on Sundays (or Wednesday if you aren't at work) You'll may find the pace is OK, if not just do a few miles then ride back by yourself or with some of the others that cut the ride short. You'll find it easier riding in a group as you shelter behind the rider in front.
There are plenty of members who don't do TT's. Sportives, Cyclocross, Road racing and audax.
(The reason a lot do do TT's is because they are the easiest racing to start off with, just turn up with a bike)
Hi guys. I have just joined the forum whilst looking what was around the Worcester area to help me improve my cycling fitness and work towards my first century over 2013.
I have noticed your club has a large focus on TT events, which is something i'm not looking to work towards, but am interested in sportives and other long distance stuff.
I currently tend to go on shorteer rides, less than 20 miles in most cases, occasionally commute (19 miles each way) and have been on a couple of longer rides (30-50 miles) but these are rare. This is something i'm looking to try and improve on this year. My longer rides have been in the region of 15-16mph average, sometimes a little faster. Would your weekend groups be suitable for me or do they tend towards higher averages than this?
I look forward to hearing your replies as I'm keen to get involved this year!
