RE: Developing a junior section

Hi Rachel   -       I am interested in helping, as I mentioned to you at AGM.

Could this be a junior / Youth group ?

We have a few family members in these groups who I think might be interested, according to conversations I have had with

parents at TTs, if we can actually set this up.

Hi Everyone

Following the AGM tonight I am pleased to announce that I would like to start developing a junior section for the club.

So far I have spoken to British Cycling and they are keen to help us develop the junior section of the club.  What we need to do:

  • Identify people interested in helping (I can't do this on my own).  This could be the occasional helper and/or people who may want to pursue their Level 2 British Cycling coaching qualification.
  • Have a club welfare officer (Martin Staines is this you?)
  • Identify a venue to host the activities (initially Go Ride sessions, but can be developed further depending on what they want to do).  So maybe a school? Or other venue?  Suggestions please.  And contact details if you have them.
  • Any other ideas for events or activities that people may have to help me develop this side of the club.  It might be that we may want to set up a separate working group, but I will suggest this to the committee if needed.

Once I have volunteers and ideas for venue etc I can take this back to the committee and we can go from there.

Many thanks for your support and I am really very excited about this.
