RE: Bike Insurance

Thanks, and indeed they offer a great cover generally accross the board.  I checked the "Market" and they could not find better or offer the same cover so no "Meerkat" this time!biggrin

More Than have an extended bike option which has a semi-reasonable value for each bike:

Bicycle cover outside your home
Covers your bicycle(s) against loss, theft or damage up to £5,000
£16.66 per year
This covers your bicycles away from the home against accidental damage, theft or loss. Bicycles worth over £1,500 each should be listed in the declared your valuable item section. If you do not select this cover, your bicycles will only be covered under your home contents policy and not away from your home.

I stopped insuring bikes in about 1984.

Most of my bikes are not worth much, but even if I had a high value one stolen, it would be less than the value of the premiums spent over the years.

Statistically that has to be the case, how else to insurance companies make money? - better to spend money on security and locks

I have the BC Bike Insurance but they limit it to three bikes and the premium is 10% of the total value a year.  I like the cover they give but feel the premium is high.

Try British Cycling, They have Bike, and Race Cover. Includes Kit, Time off in an Accident Etc Etc.

Direct line Might fdo cover since they fancy sponsering cycling.

Try A-Plan as well?

My home contents insurance with the Co-op let me add bikes as special value items up to a value of £2000 (against a few pounds a month extra) - not sure about more expensive machines though.
