RE: Bike thieves in area - be warned

Indeed. I'd heard of something similar in Feckenham a few months ago. Not good. I would have thought these more specialist bikes would be more difficult to sell for the lowlifes that are taking them though, keep 'em peeled as Shaw Taylor used to say....

Another good reason for those living in and around Worcester to use the cycle lanes and cut-throughs dotted around Worcester, more difficult for a car to follow you home if you use routes not accessible to motor vehicles. Be careful out there.

Neighbourhood watch extract:-

Between 29th & 30th November 2011 4 bicycles were stolen from a garage in Naunton Beauchamp. The bicycles were a 'Giant OCR1 with a red front tyre', 'Dolce Specialised Bicycle' & '2 x Echelon's'. The window from the garage was removed to gain access to the bicycles.

Between 29th & 30th November 2011 2 bicycles were stolen from a garage in Hanford Drive, Eckington. The doors of the garage were broken into by the lock being picked. The bicycles were a 'Ridley Dean time trial bicycle - Red, Black & White in colour' and an 'Echelon - Black in colour'.

Reference the bicycles, I spoke to a member of the public who stated that a few months ago a gang were following riders to their homes and then targeting that home at a later date to steal the bikes. Please have a good look at your home security and your garages, especially if you keep expensive equipment in them, such as bicycles (as I know a few of you are keen cyclists!). I keep my bike in my dining room (much to my mothers

annoyance!) but I know its a lot safer there, plus if the unfortunate was to happen then I know its covered on our home insurance.

Many Thanks

Ben

A Worcester Triclub member had his family's road bikes stolen from his house recently in a very slick manner.

Based on what the police and guys at Echelon told him, it appears that an extremely professional gang of thieves are targeting high end road bikes in the area.furious

Be careful out there, and check your contents insurance policy!
