Proposed new club TT points championship system

Please post your comments as we need to agree a new system at the next committee meeting

Worcester St Johns CC Club Points Trophy Competition

Rule

Reason

Winner of each event receives 50 points, 2nd 49, 3rd 48 etc down to last placed person.  (If only 20 riders the last placed person still gets 31 points)

All riders receive points according to their placing instead of slower riders all receiving just 1 point

More points are available for less popular events encourages riders to try different events

Men, women, seniors, juniors juveniles will be grouped together for all points awarded.

Simplicity

If there are more than 50 counting riders the last few get 1 point each

Its never happened so far, so unlikely

Only WSJCC club riders count

It seems unfair that a WSJCC rider should lose points to a guest rider from another club who isnt interested in the points and cant compete for the trophy anyway

The points a rider gains in their best 15 events will count.

It allows riders to go on holiday, ride different bikes, be ill, marshall, time keep or help without losing the chance to compete in the competition.

If there is a main event and an alternative event the points will be awarded to the main event riders first, then the alternative event riders second. So in a 2-up event, 2-up riders get the high points and solo riders get the lower points, ditto on the 25 mile TT riders doing the 9 mile alternative will be awarded the remaining points after the 25 mile riders

Alternatives are offered for the less competitive riders and newcomers who may not be keen or able to complete the main event

Points in handicap events will be awarded based on scratch time NOT handicap times

The points competition is for fastest riders, the handicap trophies are a separate competition on the day

All club TTs including the hill climb will be championship counting events apart from the Boxing Day TT

Boxing day is after the trophy is awarded, the hill climb is the last counting event and gives riders the last chance to beat a rival

Trophies will be awarded to the highest number of points for a Senior & veteran, (men & women) junior and juvenile

Hopefully weve got enough trophies

Tandem and 2-up riders will be placed after solo riders in solo events.

To prevent the unfair advantage that 2-ups and tandems have over solo riders

In the event of a points draw, the highest number of 1st places will determine the winner. (Then 2nds, 3rd,s 4th,s etc.)
