Great night at the track! I didn't count but someone told me there were 27 of us? Out of those maybe 10 were Wyre forest riders? Weather held good for us with a bit of a killer headwind on the top straight. For those that weren't there, we started the session with a single file ride,on the racing line, this was to make sure all the newcomers learnt the correct line.that Got progressively faster. Next we split the group into two and did through and off exiting the corners, that was a little bit ropey! so we did it again but split into 3 more manageable groups. That was much better. We ended the night with a half lap hare and hounds. What this means is again the group was split into two teams Fast (hounds) and not so fast (hare) The hares were set off and the hounds followed them half a lap behind to try and catch them. To there credit 5 or so of the hare's were not caught (perhaps they will be hounds next time?) Two laps to go were called as the light was failing and it was then down to the sprint,Joe Page set a blistering pace and won by a good bike or two's length,2nd and third were Matt Sheppard and Adam Hart and to be honest I was on the line and couldn't separate them, next in was Vince Page by a mere bike length. After that it was warm down and a bit of a chat. So all in all a great night and a great workout, could I just thank everyone that turned up you made it worth while for me.
We have been offered full Wednesday night access to the facility which is a great offer especially with the winter coming up for safe off road training. With that in mind I shall start a new thread on what we are going to do with the WNTB through the winter months. Please comment and post your views.
Weather looks favourable for tonight so lets keep those fingers crossed! Would be adviseable to bring a light weight waterproof gillet or jacket with you just incase. Dont forget lights, and please before you go on the track sign on and pay. See you all later Tony
Thanks for that John, Just like to add that the evening will not be cancelled, meaning that the only time that the track is shut is if its Icy or there is an electrical storm. The great thing is that if there are showers you can always pop back into the club house to dodge it and get a warm cup of tea!! So really its its your decision as to wether you ride. I shall be there from 6.00 please be ready to ride meeting at the clubhouse bend at 6.40 There will be a quick chat regarding safety before we start. Tony
Richard not sure, but was it you who was not wearing a helmet last week? If so you must this week or you will not be allowed on the track. It is advisable to wear gloves/mitts as well. Tony
I believe so, although its a closed session for wyre forest and stjohns,it is ok for other riders to come along as long as thery are "known" to us and local. What we dont want is complete strangers turning up saying there with the WNTB. If anyones unsure just phone me before travelling.
Toilets changing rooms showers Bar,selling tea etc and alcohol. snacks etc. loads of car parking
The evening session starts at 18.00 and runs until 21.00 although if you want to ride up until 21.00 then after 20.00 or so you will need a reasonable front light. I will start the session proper at 18.45 so be ready to go from then.although you can come and go as you please.
Upon arrival you will be required to sign on in the club house and will probably be given a wrist band to prove you have paid (£3).I shall be there from 18.30 so any problems find me.
We will split the group into abilities doing a few exercises.
This is going to be a great opportunity to get to use the track for us,particularly as it is not a public session. If you are at all interested in maybe having a go at mass start events next year, then please come along.
I am able to give a lift to two riders plus there bikes if required, phone me on 07884 003564. leaving st johns/hallow at about 18.00
