Don't panic, the idea of training was suggested by the Worcester St Johns CC committee after a BCF commissaire crticised the quality of our marshalling. There is no requirement for training or documents or anything like that. I've sent several emails to the BCF but had no reply which seems to be par for the course with the BCF. As you say it's a bit late in the day now. I've got plenty to do, so will not be organsiing anything unless it can be done before the race, maybe a Marshalls meeting 45 minutes before the start?

Agreed their have been a small number of Marshalls across the country, who believe they are suddenly the police when donning a yellow bib and have/may of caused incidents. Ie. got the lawyers, Insurance companies, or Police Forces involved.
So training is now something to be documented and completed to either reduce liability to the Insurance company by putting the Onus back on the individual in case of dispute, or by the Police Forces as part of the permission to allow racing on the roads.
Either way we now need a number of Marshalls trained, There are 6 Weekends between now the Road Race if i include the Sat before the Race.
Please advise dates so i can do the training and keep helping. Just like i have completed the CRB checks for other organisations i also help with.
Don't blame HSE or insurance, blame the lawyers! Actually there are a lot of people who haven't marshalled and want to be trained, and some who have marshalled and also need to be trained. See guidelines in the handbook.
Er did I miss something. I need to be trained to stand on a corner with a flag after standing on a corner or at a prime for 20 Years? I sort of guess this is some sort of HSE/ Insurance issue with the BCF.
So when the training?? I Should be able to make at least 1 RR this year just haven't worked out which one yet.
Martin, Hope the hunt for marshals is going well. We need a minimum of 3 per turn, marshal training contact is John Crawford. Doug Dring should have his number as I'm going to be delayed in NZ for a week or so. Could you please ask Rob Finch if he could do race service on June 6th?
