So 3 of us are up for 4K's flying 200's and Probably at leadst one 10 miler or an hour. Should be a good afternoon at Halesowen. So choose. A sunday Late morning and then the club run can come play and. Then we can do a BBQ lunch and tea's :) while we watch DP go for 80 laps + Shall we go for early July?
I would be happy to pay towards the costs and I'd have a go at the 4k and the hour.. it would be interesting to see how much slower I was than the world records!..
I fancy doing a 4K, kilo and sprint distances, just so I can see how slow I am compared to our Olympians, so count me in for paying for some of the track hire. Be up for the hour maybe.
Well i have done 3000 and 4000 meter TT on the track i have to say that about the limit for me mentally. 40 Laps on Halesowen! Might as well go for it on the rollers.
But it's a month to go for the Track League.... I've registered. Any one else coming
I don't think a track would prove to be that fast though... although the surface is good you would have no traffic creating draft that speeds you up. Fast moving traffic on a dual carrageway course makes a massive difference to your cycling speed.
A track would show what each individual is capable of though, with conditions being the same for everyone. I for one would be quite interested in seeing what I could do for the hour.
too many twists and humps for a fast time.I dont think its that expensive to hire out halesowen on sunday afternoons. We did it last year Dave J sorted it.geared bikes are fine on there on a closed session although you still can't mix them with track bikes. The biggest problem would be lap counting for individual riders, say there were 10 riders on at once they would all be doing the same amount of laps but finish at differant times. You could use those wireless sender units that triatheletes ware, linked to a laptop to count each rider over the line. You would need to have rules like no draughting etc.
How about hiring halesowen track for a couple of hours? then loads of people could have a go,as long as fixed(with no brakes) and freewheel bikes are not on the track together. could be fun!
Hi guys, I've been 'lucky' to get on the U47 twice in the last two years (or should I say my first two seasons). I'm a slow-, low 23 but will be looking to enter again. I've PB'd there both times. Another one worth a crack....and the extra half hour drive is the P613 at Thruxton, Andover. Hope this helps.
get a good day on the K33 and you should do OK Remember the good old days when there would be events for the 'slowest 120 entrants' and middlemarkers events on fast courses.
Well the F5D/10 at milton keynes is probably no better on getting a ride. Better try on the Evesham courses first. I suppose I'll look at the R10/17 abergavenny, (A40) and see what happens.
Apparently it's getting difficult to get a place on any u47 event as all of the fast boys want to go there to set a pb.
Two years ago when I did it I only got a place as 10th reserve. My best time I had to enter on the form was 23mins 47seconds. I think you will need a time close to 23 mins for a 10 in order to get a place..
It's a bit of a pain as on the u47 you would go under 23 mins but unless you have already done so you can't get the chance to prove it!
Yes the broadheath "10" is fast (and short at 9.65 miles) , but with all those twists and turns and the bit of a hill that you have to ride up twice your average speed will be much faster on the dual carrageway out and back flat u47. my average speed for my best time on Broadheath was 25.44mph.. On the u47 I did an average of 27.23mph. Also, if anything I would have been in better shape when I did the broadheath 10.
