RE: New cycle racing facilty in Worcester

I think it's gone down a blackhole!
The shrewsbury track is very good, there is a race there next Saturday for all catagories.

Mega Bump Sorry

Just wondering there was any further news on this. Went to Shewsbury today and had a look at their sports Village which includes what looks to be a very nice cycle track

I've now been in touch with the owners of the site and my proposals to include cycle sport facilities have been forwarded to the main man.
Watch this space . . . . . .

I think Nick Yarworth is head of Go-Ride for BC for this area so maybe you could get in contact with him idea

Whens the next committee meeting,
Should we contact Wyre Forest and Sevale along and put this through as a joint effort. I have been given david ****ram british cycling as a good contact as well.

I think we should get the addresses and lobby for use of the facilities.

we though need a plan and a solid request. A Tarmaced Road preferably with a climb steeper one way than the other. (You have 2 slightly different circuits depending on direction you run the race) approx 1-2 km long and a cut through so we have a child friendly 400-700 meter circuit. If it can run alongside a carpark type area we could bill it as an area for cycle road training/ beginner training to take place in.

Anyway a presentation (not a death by powerpoint) from a senior club official would be good. Nothing to lose and everything to gain. If we can get council members and Departments on side that would be good as well.

If you've seen the Berrows Journal you may have read about the proposed 250 acre 'Sports Hub' to be built in Fernhill Heath/Hindlip along with loads of new houses. So far indoor sports arena, Olympic swimming pool, gymnastics, martial arts, tennis, cricket, golf & football get a mention. With this sort of development we should be looking to get a road  racing circuit and a track.

What can we do, who do we approach, how do we go about a campaign???

Due to be finished 2011 - just in time for Olympians? Focus on cycling needs to be improved.
