steve price did 43;43 he did exactly the same time two years ago.spooky eh. i was hoping dave preece would be on the club track bike spinning for england..................
I've just been looking at previous years results for the low gear 19.5 tt and if my maths are right I think Steve Price did 121rpm to get round in 48mins 47secs! That's a lot of revs for the best part of 50 minutes.. Anyway, it's put me off the low gear so I'm going to ride using all of my gears!! Out of interest, does anyone know what the low gear record is?
Hi DanJ! just to give you some idea a 66" gear is like using 52 tooth front chain ring and a 21 tooth rear(on a road bike)... I can't spin at all so I'll be using all of my gears! See you on Tuesday.... Dave
Or 39 (front) x 16 (rear), which would stress your chain less and give you a smoother and more noise free ride. This is 64.06" with 700c x 23mm tyres.
Check out the following website which will enable you to work out what gears you have on your bike.

The 66" gear is for those that want to ride the event in the "one" gear for the Heron Shield. Many still ride and use multiple gears (but wont be able to win the shield) - especially through Severn Stoke! Meeting point is the viewpoint car park at The Ketch.
I'm new to club riding (was a keen mountain bike until I bought my 1st serious road bike last year and I am now 85% converted).
I joined SJCC last week and hope to come to the ride on Tuesday night, however I am not sure what is meant by "66 Gear", please could someone explain it to me so I don't just turn up on an unsuitable bike to ride the 20 miles.
