He who laughs last, or should I say starts last. . . . . lets have all those excuses then - did you get lost or did the egg sandwich do your stomach in? Say thanks to your Dad for the offer of a lift, but I had to get home before dark.
I'd have thought liam Kileen would have been a VIP, not like that J_ _ n F_ _ _ h who doesn't even know his own age, looks about 12 to me so he'll find a long ride pretty tough, he'll be all right on my back wheel though.
Yep 125 and counting still..warming up nicely as is the weather apparently..just hope that nasty headwind dies down else will be pretty tough! We can always sit behind stainesy tho hehe! According to the website the diversions in place now even tho riding back from work today the switchback was open..they've made a sort of chicane on the road where the landslip was so easily passable!
oh and according to the ride the route website there'll be no timed climb up ankerdine now gutted..all due to police concerns!! I think they're worried that they'll catch someone speeding haha B-) agreed that club kit should be worn as its in our own backyard and should show up well and this is bein filmed too by all accounts! Best bring comb and lippy in back pocket then
thats the thought of you riding back stainesy hehe....you must be mad! Actually i was considering riding back along the route the other way myself!! (cough cough)
Had a chat with a few of the WSJ club riders last night at time trial - hope we can all start together and plan to ride together, means waiting at top of hills for fat gits like me, but if faster guys want to go on, just say. What do you think? Club tops obligatory. I'm still planning on riding home . . . . . . . . .
it would appear that the 'Switchback' to Bewdley is rideable and will be used on Sunday - so following the official TOB route. There are 3 refreshment stops - Cradley, Shrawley and Bridgnorth.
Entries being taken on the day now also - limited to an extra 100 entries on day though
Interesting re-route they've re-planned then around bewdley as the route map does show the switchback being used..have you checked the entrants page yet? There's some mystery V.I.Ps not named so any clues?
Signing on is planned for the saturday (the day before the event), unless stated otheriwise. You will get full deatils though
The road closure will not affect the Sportive, as this bit of the route is not on the sportive route (but was to be on the TOB route) - but now this is having to be changed to probably reflect the sportive route - hope this makes sense. The sportive re-joins the original TOB route from Callow Hill (where the refreshment stop is at private residence almost opp. the Vistor Centre) from here its down hill n to Bewdley to rejoin the route . Hence the route is actually longer than the TOB route (well, at the moment it is anyway!)
Well the big one is nearly upon us for us mere mortals but i'm a bit worried over a couple of aspects of it..firstly we're supposed to do a secondary signing on n collect timing device etc..does anyone know more about that exactly? And something a bit more pressing, part of the route is closed due to a landslip along the switchback to bewdley(i do work there!) and not sure when it re-opens so has an alternative route/diversion been made or considered in case? If anyone knows anythin then i've only my legs to worry about!!
